Then as a flourish you put its head on a spike for all the world to see for seven bucks a pop. There is no defeat more final, terrible and humiliating than the one where you destroy your enemy so thoroughly that it winds up working to make you money. In the United States, we have an epithet for situations like these: “nnnnice!” It’s like the American version of when English people say “brilliant”.
