I’ve got 2 books in my head right now. The sequel to Snow White and Her Queen and another interactive one called The Privileged Ones which came to me in a dream, complete with cliffhangers, plot twists, ending and all (I literally watched the whole story play out in my sleep like a movie, weird but true). Of these 2, I haven’t decided which to work on first but they both will be done before I embark on the next mega project—the last 3 books and resolution of my Those Strange Women series.
If that excites you, remember you can always join my mailing list to be updated when new books come out.
If you’re looking for a vote, I say get down Privileged Ones while it’s still fresh in your head!
… On the other hand, time spent on other projects may help your subconscious mind refine and clarify PO into something not only better artistically, but more profitable.
On the other other hand, Robert Altman made the movie “3 Women” based on a dream he had in the hospital. He claimed he never understood either the dream or the movie, but he made the movie anyway. Blast out “Privileged” as it is and let literary history decide!
Bearing all that in mind, dark horse suggestion, what about making the whole thing into a video game instead? “Eritis Mea” had a very video gamey vibe to it (that’s a compliment) and the Steam online video game distribution platform has like 4 billion members. A great way to exponentially expand your audience!
Wait, what were we talking about? Yeah this is why I’m not a life coach.
I actually dreamt The Privileged Ones back when I was working on Snow White & Her Queen so it’s been… 3 years now? That it’s still there in my thoughts should be reason to do it… I think? Anyway, I love your suggestion. I’m a huge gamer (playing Death Stranding now) and I would love to have my books made into games except I’m presently at Coding Skill: Level 0. So if you do know anybody who wants to make my books into games, please, link us up!
I wish I was one of those people with a mysterious past or something who’d look at that comment, sigh, and then pick up the phone, calling a number etched indelibly in my memory. “Hey,” I would say, voice heavy with the weight of years and bridges burned. “Yeah… I never thought I’d be calling this number again either. But have I got a pitch for YOU, old friend-slash-arch-nemesis GABE NEWELL…”
Unfortunately I’m not but if by any chance I sit next to Hideo Kojima on a plane someday, believe me, he’s going to know your name by the end of THAT flight!
Hahha. You know, I think you should be an author. Or maybe you already are? In any case, thanks for being my biggest, most enthusiastic fan thus far. I have no idea what I did to deserve you but I’m sure glad you exist.
I’ll tell you what you didn’t do to deserve me! Send me this message in time for me to open it at work, making my face seize up and my eyes go watery in front of my coworkers. Not good for my manly image!
I wasn’t bestowed upon you by the fanboy pixie you know. I didn’t just congeal out of a vacuum to randomly bestow praise on independent authors or anything. I’m your fan because you wrote books I really really liked, enough to write reviews about them. Reading a book makes my life that little bit more joyous for the rest of my days. So needless to say I’m glad you exist as well. 🙂
As far as writing for myself goes, I keep hearing that. Maybe I should! I mean what is there to lose? :/a
Haha, sorry, but I am really so thankful. And yes, you have nothing to lose by writing. You may even end up with a fan like yourself and start noticing life can be so beautiful 🙂
