Status Update: May-Nov 2022

Working on: Business #2 and Business #3 which have been on some kinda roll since the beginning of the year for reasons I don’t fully understand. Unfortunately, due to that, I’ve got to pause work on Those Strange Women #4 for a bit to roll with the rolls while they still do roll, ya know? I’ll resume Those Strange Women #4 as soon as I can work out how to fit in some regular writing time in between.

Playing: Judgement (PS4). Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights!

Reading/Read: Travel guides. When the world began to reopen, my partner developed a passion for revenge travel and has been dragging me along since. (To the dismay of our very beloved and most precious will-always-be-my-baby fur baby to whom I am giving loving mushy faces to as I type this.) (But hey, we got to eat Racoon City Police Department Emergency Rations!) Also read: Empire of Pain—The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty, A Woman In Berlin, Nazi Wives, The Making of Second Life—Notes from the New World.

Watching/Watched: Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (loved it before, was so happy to see it available on the flight I was on last week). Superintelligence. A whole bunch of true crime flicks on Netflix like the Most Hated Man on the Internet; Our Father; Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey; etc. Little Women (the Kpop version). The Lost City. Bullet Train. That cheesy set-in-Bali comedy starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Those are just what I remember. There’s prolly much more but yea, doesn’t really matter at the moment. Also watched: Uncensored Itaewon crush videos. (Yeah 🙁 )

Thinking a lot about: Business #2’s growth. Business #3’s projects. How is it the year is already coming to an end? And oh man, did I just totally forget about my new year’s resolution to play the IHL Reading Challenge and Jae’s Sapphic Book Bingo challenge? (Yep, I think I did.)

Great to hear from you Ms. Ferrara! I’m kind of ambiguous about what to say here. I know how much you love writing even if you can’t always make time to sit down and do so, and maybe talking about not doing so is a subtle invitation for your fans to implore you to get back to writing. Of course you should never look to your fans for inspiration to buckle down and get disciplined, we’re not life-coaches and I’m not the kind of fan who goes onto Reddit to complain about the very people who go out of their way to entertain him. I’m legitimately just glad to hear that you’re doing so well and rolling with the rolls, because who knows when they’ll stop rolling? With the world economy the way it is, who knows when that roll goes and rolls off a cliff! Besides, I see a great opportunity for a new novel. A married couple who’ve been together for some time goes on a revenge travel spree post-pandemic and rediscovers their love for each other in a series of quirky and exotic destinations between Zoom calls with the fur baby left at home. And then, I don’t know, there’s a possible alien invasion that might actually just be a natural event or maybe a Von Neumann robot sneaks home with them in their luggage, and is threatening at first, but then it soon decides that it’s great to be a pet and settles down with said fur baby in a heartwarming ending.

No judgement on the Itaewon videos. Lately I’ve been watching all these 9/11 clips on YouTube from twenty years ago. We live in a world where everyone is acting all the time, on the news, on social media, in our real lives, and everything we see and experience is canned, processed and sold. In these videos, no one is acting. It’s real and unvarnished. :/

    • I like what you said: “We live in a world where everyone is acting all the time…” That is so true but how many of us have noticed that? I didn’t until you mentioned it and then it was like whoa… that’s right. That’s very right…… And now I can’t ever un-see it. You’re a genius and inspiring, Robert Jenner. Me, my partner and our fur baby (who has been happily married to a plush wife for years now btw, sorry alien robot), wish you the merriest of Christmases and the most entertaining and fulfilling 2023 possible! 🙂
