    I hope you don’t think this is a weird thought – more so than usual, at least – but I suddenly imagined this really violent imagery. You took this terrible experience that put you through a personal hell, and then you confronted it, overcame it, and beat it to death with your literary acumen. Twice if you count Eritis Mea! Then as a flourish you put its head on a spike for all the world to see for seven bucks a pop. There is no defeat more final, terrible and humiliating than the one where you destroy your enemy so thoroughly that it winds up working to make you money. In the United States, we have an epithet for situations like these: “nnnnice!” It’s like the American version of when English people say “brilliant”.
