Good news / Bad news

Good news: I finished Snow White and Her Queen 2!
Bad news: It’s a tad too long so I’m in the midst of cutting stuff out.
Good news: Snow White and Her Queen and Eritis Mea are now available for borrowing at Public Libraries in Wisconsin and California, United States!
Bad news: Given the way things are, I’m unlikely to get to visit any of those places any time soon.
Good news: There’s always “one day”, “some day”.
Bad news: Which could also be euphemism for “never”.

Don’t think of them as ‘cuts’ or ‘edits’, think of them as ‘deleted scenes’ you can make available to your fans the next time you’re between novels and need something to tide over the anxious, Ferrara-starved mob. If only Marie Antoinette had said something like “let them read my Amadis of Gaul slash fanfiction” instead of eating cake I imagine the world would be a very different place.

Okay so it’s weird my mind went there because as it happens the name for the state of California came, in fact, from Amadis of Gaul fanfiction. It was the name of a mythical island ruled by Queen Calafia in “The Adventures of Esplandian” by Garci Rodriguez de Montalvo. I swear that was a coincidence.

Anyway California’s definitely a good place to visit if you visit the US but I wouldn’t count out Wisconsin either. It’s reputation mostly comes from it’s cheese, beer, and football team, but the city of Madison has a huge arts and culture scene.

    • Haha, okay maybe one day towards the end of my career I’ll release an anthology of ‘deleted scenes’ just for you, Robert, and that Ferrara-starved mob. And when this is all over I’ll drag my partner on a road trip across the USA and write you a book about it. In the meantime, excuse me while I go understand what Amadis of Gaul fanfiction is really about.

You say that with a ‘haha’ but I would totally donate to a Kickstarter for an anthology of your unpublished material. You could call it “Ferrarafenalia”. “Paraferraralia” (you can steal both of those). As for getting all “Carol” with you and your partner road-tripping across the US and then writing a book about it, it’s like um, that sounds fan-freaking-tastic. “Ferraramerica”. “Anna Ferrara’s Macabramerica” (you can steal those too).

Here’s a fun idea! You and your partner could re-enact Helen and Ethel at Area 51. 😀

        • Thanks for the ideas, Robert. I’ll do the anthology when I’m really old or ready to retire from writing forever and maybe make it limited edition or something so that big fans (like you!) can profit from the bizarreness of the collection someday when I’m gone or vanished 🙂 As for the road trip… well first somebody somewhere needs to be as nifty with biological science as Helen is to get us all travelling again…
